I have known both people and institutions that work, and those that have fallen short. When an injustice occurs, you can let that be the end of the story. Or you can change approaches, pick yourself up and keep going. I’m running for office because our story isn’t over. I support providing our students with the skills to engage in the challenges of our time, form their own understanding, and have the integrity and confidence to write their own story.

Thank you for showing up for our young people every day. Society has frayed and investments in education do not reflect the needs of the community. Thank you for your service keeping the lights on, the food on the table, and your efforts to engage students in learning. Your work bends the arc of history towards justice.
To students
​
Too much of your education has happened during times of change and challenge. You have had your educational experience shrink to the size of a computer screen, and then expand slowly back to infinite connections with friends, teachers and the community again. You don’t take things like school dances or seeing your friends for granted, and you will always be shaped by the historic challenges you experienced. It has not been easy, but you have drawn on strength and optimism to reclaim your place in the world. Thank you for stepping up and taking responsibility for your future.
To parents and community members
I welcome the high expectations our community has for education and the support families show for their children. We are all better off when we solve problems together and always improve. Thank you for entrusting your children to TTSD. I will work hard to honor your commitment to our district- for your children, my children, and our neighbor’s children.

Families think carefully about how to guide their children, what advice to offer and how to support their growth. The community deserves the same level of care from their school board members.
In making decisions, I consider:

Belief in the inherent potential of all young people​
All young people served by our district have inherent potential as scholars and as human beings, and our duty is to provide what they need to thrive.
Believing in young people means that I have high expectations for what they can learn, achieve and contribute. I expect young people to value and uplift themselves, each other, our schools, their families and the larger community.
I expect our school district to demonstrate a similar belief in the potential of all students and their inherent value with words, actions, and investments.
Creer en el potencial inherente de todos los jóvenes

Delivering a quality education​
In this role, I strive to offer students an outstanding, safe, and supportive educational experience that prepares them for whatever they decide to pursue in their futures. This includes:

Access to a world class curriculum. Many families lack the resources to supplement what schools provide. Students have just one chance for an education, so resources should prioritize experiences and curriculum that will open doors.

Appreciated and supported teachers and classified staff, as well as administrators. I value the expertise and insights educators can provide as they consider new challenges and show up for young people with compassion and a spirit of problem solving.

Preparation to fully participate in society. Young people need an understanding of our democracy and how to participate in it, and the ability to think critically in weighing evidence and research findings.

Support systems. Young people need supportive adults, including their families, teachers and classified staff who they see every day. Our community benefits from strong ties between friends, mentors, teachers and students. We must continue to remake these ties and invest in relationships. I believe that connections with technology should not replace connections with people.

A safe environment conducive to learning. Young people need support and understanding, as well as guidance and structure. We can empower students to take ownership of their community and their place in it.

Fostering an ability to interact within our diverse and dynamic society and whatever our future holds. This includes having integrity, building character, being polite and especially having compassion for others. We must look beyond ourselves and work to care for those around us.
